After 1 day and 1 night on the Salar de Uyuni, we spent 2 days in the Uyuni (Lipez) region, close to the Chilean border.
Very nice sceneries even though we had to change the plans and to stay below 4.300 meters as it was snowing above that altitude.

Who would expect to meet ostriches in Bolivia at very high altitude…? Not us… but SURPRISE, we managed to find it!

In fact, we were on both boats: the bigger one for main journeys and for the night. The smaller boat made of totora reeds was (only) for a short fun cruise on the next day.

One city very far from Brussels and Slovakia 4 flights needed to get here.
After 3 days on Titicaca lake among which one night on Sun island, we passed by La Paz to fly to Uyuni.
Like in many other cities and towns in Peru and Bolivia, there is a big kid’s playground in Uyuni, too.

Getting to the main goal of the journey to Uyuni : the Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat.
More than 10.000 km², like 1/3 of Belgium or a bit more than 1/5 of Slovakia!
It contains 50 to 70% of the world’s lithium reserves!
If you go there, do not forget to bring a Slovak flag. It is not there, yet.
Incahuasi island in the center of the flat.
Impressive to see 60-70 km or more far on all sides.
Impressive, too, to see the +/- 6000 cactuses that are on the island.
